As a thank you to all my lovely followers, I’m conducting my first 100 follower giveaway! The winner can choose any one of the books above. I will either be purchasing at my local bookstore and shipping or purchasing from the book depository.

The rules:

1. You must be following me

2. You must like or reblog this post to enter the giveaway.

3. You must enter the giveaway by midnight, October 10, 2014 (US Pacific time zone).

4. You must be okay giving away your address. I’m willing to ship internationally as long as you know how I’m supposed to address the package properly from here (US).

5. Make sure your Ask is open! I will contact the winner through their Ask shortly afterwards.

6. The winner (possibly YOU) has 48 hours to respond with their choice of book and preference of hardback or paperback. I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to get you the hardback or paperback, depending on the book and price, but I’ll do what I can.

I hope my booklrs are as excited as I am! As cliched as we sometimes sound, may the odds be ever in your favor!

And you’ve checked everywhere. The shelves, places you tend to read, at school, various bags, etc. You’ve interrogated people who like to borrow books. You’ve grabbed random people on the street and demanded they tell you where your book is. You find it a week later under your bed. Perfect.

In case you were wondering what my Harry Potter hardbacks look like without the dust covers. If one of the blue books was yellow they’d be a perfect rainbow!

(I feel like Bloomsbury should be paying me to advertise these by now!)

Anonymous asked: What is the Lies of Locke Lamora about?

mariethelibrarian:

thebooker:

This is basically what you need to know about The Lies of Locke Lamora:

  • It’s awesome
  • It’s the first book in an adult fantasy series
  • There are currently three books - The Lies of Locke Lamora, Red Seas Under Red Skies and The Republic of Thieves - and there’s a heap of others planned. No idea when they’re going to be out but they are on the horizon
  • It’s about a tight-knit band of thieves called the Gentleman Bastards - Locke, Jean, Calo, Galdo and Bug (plus Sabetha and Chains) - and all of their crazy shenanigans because there’s plenty of them. So if you happen to have an urge to read a book about con-men, look no further
  • It’s an adult book so not suitable for young readers or anyone extremely opposed to swearing. There’s a lot of it and it’s rather… creative
  • It’s quite slow paced at first but stick with it, okay?
  • There are points you reach where you literally cannot put the book down. It’s asuaaszdasdhdcuaishkijdhfui, for lack of a better word
  • Locke Lamora and Jean Tannen have one of the best bromances in fiction and chances are, you’ll love them just as much as I do. You will also get frustrated at them from time to time (especially Locke) but you just can’t help yourself
  • This series has ace representation of women. There’s plenty of examples in the first book but even more in the sequel. There’s a WOC pirate captain with two kids - she and her First Lieutenant, Ezri, are incredible. There is actually gender equality in this world - shocking, isn’t it? The captain is respected, as is any other female in a position of power, and her gender or race isn’t questioned
  • The first book takes place in a Venice-like setting that is wonderfully described and has a great atmosphere to it
  • Every other chapter is a flashback, so you get to known more about the characters and the origins of the GB
  • There will be feels. No matter how much people warn you of this fact, you will not see the cause of these feels coming and you cannot possibly prepare yourself
  • Don’t worry though because these books are also hilarious, especially the banter between the GB
  • It’s awesome

If you do happen to need more clarification of the awesomeness of this book/series, I have a review for the first and second book. There’s no spoilers - promise!

(I love how you start with its awesome) YOU ARE AWESOME!!

I finally have my own money so I want to spend it on YOU.
Rules:

  • must be following me (I do check)
  • no giveaway/spam/bot accounts
  • Must be comfortable giving me your address (I promise I won’t do anything else with it)
  • Reblogs and likes both count
  • If you do reblog it, don’t spam your followers
  • also remember that it only shows up once in the notes
  • You’ll have 3-4 days to respond before I pick another winner
  • Open internationally through Book Depository
  • Unless you choose the other route which is explained below

Now about the books:

  • whatever you want
  • please have it under $25 or $30
  • I mean, you COULD ask what my favourite books are and see if you’d be interested in them, but I also want this to be open to any reader and not just people that like the same genres as me
  • If you’d rather me not buy a book, I can get you a $25 Amazon gift card that you can spend how your heart desires
  • I’m so so sorry, but this is only for US only just because I’d have to send it from my house (unless I learn how to send it through email)
  • If you get a bookmark, post the picture because I love those things

ANYWAY. Good luck! Please respect the rules
